The ToolPRO Coil Spring Compressor is a tool that allows the user to take the strain off a spring during the process of changing shock absorbers. These compressors are dual jaw to give extra stability during use and have a 9" maximum jaw capacity. These compressors are intended for use on hatchbacks and small family sedans where a McPherson strut may be present, and are not designed for use on heavy duty 4WD or performance suspension. They work to hold and captivate the spring, allowing pressure to be removed from the top hat of the strut, thus making removal of the top hat simple. Then, the spring can be transplanted onto the new shock absorber strut, and the new top hat installed over the top.
WARNING: As there are inherent risks when using any spring compressors, always follow due safety guidelines included in the packaging and remember to thoroughly inspect the tool's thread and general integrity before every use. Always wear gloves and safety goggles when using spring compressors.
