In the cases where an open end spanner just isn't cutting it, it may be smarter to use a crows foot or flare nut style wrench. These are especially useful on hydraulic hose fittings where using a socket isn't possible, providing contact to 4 faces and 5 corners of the fastener to ensure no rounding occurs.
